Three burning questions in 2022 for Denver Broncos

2. Will the EDGE group be enough?

It’s no secret the Denver Broncos had a need at EDGE going into the offseason. One of their solutions was to sign Randy Gregory, the former Dallas Cowboy.

Gregory had his best season in 2021, and while he didn’t light up the stat sheet, he was very effective as an edge rusher overall.

Remember, sacks don’t tell the whole story.

However, Gregory has struggled to stay on the field because of various suspensions, and Bradley Chubb, who is entering a crucial fifth year, has struggled with consistency and injuries.

It’s not the best situation, even though Chubb and Gregory are household names.

Behind them, Malik Reed and Jonathon Cooper would be the backups. Both can be effective in a backup role, but probably nothing more.

In my opinion, I think Denver needs to add another player or two at this position just to be safe.

They could take someone like Drake Jackson with the 64th overall pick, which is when they pick first.

Denver needs to continue adding to this group, because if Bradley Chubb doesn’t perform like the fifth overall pick he was, Denver may let him walk in free agency.

Randy Gregory also turns 30 this season, so age is a valid concern.

I am so unsure how the edge rushers are going to perform, and it’s a concern for me.

If Denver’s defense plans on not taking a huge step back in 2022, generating pressure is going to be perhaps the most important thing, which they could not do consistently in 2021.
