Russell Wilson QB rankings – Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) throws a pass as Denver Broncos defensive end Shelby Harris (96) pressures him in the first half of the NFL football game between the Bengals and the Broncos on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at Empower Field in Denver.Cincinnati Bengals At Denver Broncos 373 /

8. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals’ magical run to the Super Bowl last season ended with the disappointing scene of Joe Burrow on the ground beneath the triumphant Aaron Donald.

Although Donald can beat any offensive lineman, the Bengals’ mission in 2022 was clear and obvious — protect your franchise quarterback at any cost.

Up to this point, they’ve signed three new starters on the offensive line and we’ll see what they do in the 2022 NFL Draft.

For now, Joe Burrow is clearly one of the most impactful starting quarterbacks in the game with such a natural feel for the position. There are few ways you can actually beat Burrow unless he literally gets destroyed in the pocket.

I can’t recall seeing many quarterbacks better at escaping pressure than this guy. It’s a blast to watch him with the talented trio of receivers the Bengals have.

7. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

For all of those people who thought that Matthew Stafford would thrive outside of Detroit, the 2021 season was likely cathartic.

Stafford in the Sean McVay offense was the casual football fan’s delight, and a fantasy football player’s dream come true.

Stafford proved this past year what many already knew, but most had not been able to see due to the culture and constant roster dysfunction in Detroit — this guy is a legitimate MVP type of quarterback when he’s on top of his game.

Now that he’s in Los Angeles, we should see that version of him for the foreseeable future.
