Ranking the 5 best quarterbacks ever drafted by the Broncos
This may not be a popular pick for some, but Tim Tebow certainly had some magical moments while he was the quarterback for the Broncos, though most of that happened over just one season in 2011.
After being selected with the No. 25 overall pick in the first round of the 2010 draft, many Broncos fans were beside themselves, upset with Josh McDaniels for drafting a quarterback that “couldn’t throw”.
McDaniels was out at the end of that year and John Fox was named head coach. After seeing all he could stomach of Kyle Orton, he finally listened to the defeating chants of “Tebow” at Broncos home games and put No. 15 into the lineup.
Now there is no doubt that it wasn’t pretty at times, but some of the victories Tebow helped engineer were nothing short of miraculous. The Broncos went 8-8 in 2011 but still managed to win the AFC West and secure a spot in the playoffs.
Then came Tebow’s finest moment.
Many Broncos fans to this day still give credit to every other player except Tebow for that season, but the team certainly wasn’t playing that way with Orton under center. If nothing else, Tebow brought a level of leadership and belief that just can’t be taught.
Tebowmania was quite a wild ride for one season and though it ended as quickly as it started, you can argue that there has never been a more fun season in Broncos history that didn’t result in a Super Bowl victory.
