Denver Broncos trade-up target: Linebacker Troy Andersen

Linebacker is a position that has been an issue for the Broncos for some time. Troy Andersen out of Montana State could be a potential target for the Broncos in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Andersen posted great results at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, including running a 4.42 40-yard dash. That happened to be the fastest among linebackers.

Andersen converted to linebacker after starting out at the wide receiver position. His speed is one of his greatest attributes that will come in handy when being tasked to cover running backs and tight ends. That, as well as his size of 6-foot-3, 243 pounds makes him a very intriguing prospect.

In 2021, Andersen recorded 150 total tackles, averaging 10 tackles per game over a 15-game schedule. In comparison, Broncos free agent linebacker Alexander Johnson recorded 124 total tackles during the 2020 season.

Replacing Johnson with Andersen would be a very smart move.

Andersen is also very athletic, as shown here at the 2022 Scouting Combine:

Despite Andersen’s lack of experience at the linebacker position, he is considered to be a Day 1 starter. That is an outstanding accomplishment.
