Denver Broncos FA still available no. 4: Kyle Fuller, CB

When the Denver Broncos signed Kyle Fuller in the 2021 offseason, everyone thought the cornerback position was set.

In fact, the discussion revolved around whether or not the Broncos were smart to only sign him to the one-year contract they got him for at $9.5 million. Should they have signed him for two or three years just to be sure they didn’t have to overpay to bring him back in 2022?

As it turns out, that wasn’t an issue and it appears as though it was primarily the coaching staff and Vic Fangio that was the driving force behind this move in 2021.

Fuller had played All-Pro football under Fangio as recently as 2018, but at this point, 2018 was a lifetime ago in the NFL world.

Fuller was cut by the Bears last offseason and after just one season in Denver, we all saw plenty of reasons why.

Fuller skipped OTAs after being acquired as a pretty big-money free agent, and while a lot of people don’t really care about that, it turned out to be a really bad omen for his time in Denver overall.

Fuller had a rough go of things early on in the season and was ultimately benched, then forced back into action, then demoted again.

Anytime he was on the field, it seemed as though he was getting burned deep downfield.

It’s not surprising that Fuller is still available, but perhaps more surprising is how quickly his game declined at the age of 29. He is still 30 this season and will probably get an offer to come to someone’s camp.
