Denver Broncos FA still available no. 3: Kareem Jackson, S

Of all the former Denver Broncos players still available, Kareem Jackson has got to be one of the more surprising.

Jackson became a safety in the 2019 season full-time when he was signed away from the Houston Texans in free agency.

Since becoming a safety, Jackson has basically made everyone forget that he was once a first-round draft pick at the cornerback position. Even though he played a versatile role for the Houston Texans, Jackson was never a safety full-time until he signed in Denver.

That gave his career a little boost in his early 30s but now approaching his mid-30s along with playing through a shoulder injury last year, it’s understandable that teams would be wary.

Still, given what the going rate is for safeties these days, it’s surprising that no team has taken a one-year shot on Jackson to come in and provide some toughness to the back end of a defense as well as a significant voice in the locker room.

At this point, it seems like the Broncos have pretty much moved on from Jackson but the option to bring him back still exists.

Jackson is also not alone on the safety market still looking for a home. Former Chiefs star safety Tyrann Mathieu is still on the market, as is former first-round pick Terrell Edmunds.
