Denver Broncos mock draft, pick 116 (via Seattle Seahawks): Max Mitchell

This is a sweet draft for Denver Broncos to take a developmental tackle. They can easily draft one in the previous rounds. In this case of Mitchell, he not only fits the best player available but also fills a need for the team that signed Billy Turner in the off-season. Mitchell can come right in and challenge Calvin Anderson for depth as a swing tackle.

Anderson is certainly not a player to be counted out; however, competition on an outside tackle is a good thing. Mitchell provides both opportunities as a left tackle or right tackle. With Garett Bolles on lockdown at the left side, Mitchell would seem to focus on the right side of that line.

Mitchell’s ability to play both left and right shows the great movement skills he has to react to pass rushers. This bodes well for him as a right tackle. Not to mention in an AFC West filled with pass rushers, athleticism is key here.

Mitchell brings really good movable force in pass sets. The reactionary ability to mirror a rusher is one of his best traits that also might make him rise on draft boards. There’s a possibility he gets drafted ahead of where’s he picked here.

The balance in pass sets also is shown in the run game. He brings great movement to get to the next level. Mitchell does not have elite strength as a tackle, but he does bring a fair amount of it when he pushes a pile.
