Denver Broncos mock draft, pick 75: Nik Bonitto, EDGE, Oklahoma

Nik Bonitto offers a surprising bit of athleticism as an edge rusher. Bonitto has a tremendous “get off” to say hello to quarterbacks. The first step and pass rush win rate from Bonitto was at its best in 2021.

While the length of Bonitto is not elite, it is above average. His length allows him to go from speed to power quickly. If a team wants Bonitto to be primarily a pass rusher he will need to add a tad more versatility to his game. However, he already presents a lot of versatility in both pass rush and inside backer.

If Denver Broncos wanted to add players on the pass rush front with some scheme versatility, Bonitto might fit that bill. His skill set to be an off-ball linebacker in a scheme with a lot of depth and teachers would bode well for his career.

Not to mention Denver would have two of the same kind of player in Baron Browning. Bonitto and Browning would give Denver a fascinating duo of Swiss Army Knives to use in mix and match situations. It allows Denver to pick and choose who’d they want as a spy potentially in any situation.

Bonitto shines in the instincts and intelligent game as well. It shines well in run defense. Bonitto understands well enough to be in the right place at the right time. He knows the run lane or responsibility that is asked of him making him coachable.
