La’el Collins

When it became clear that the Dallas Cowboys were going to move on from La’el Collins, George Paton should have worked a trade for him. When the Cowboys released him, he should have been one of the top available players on Paton’s list.

And who knows, maybe he was.

But the Broncos, who had a massive hole at right tackle, didn’t get him. Instead, Collins signed with the Cincinnati Bengals for three years.

The Broncos have brought in Tom Compton and Billy Turner. As of now, it is likely that one of those players will open the season at the right tackle spot. Collins would have been a massive upgrade over them, to say the least.

Collins started 71 games over the past seven seasons with the Cowboys after going undrafted out of LSU. He has the ability to be a Pro-Bowl level tackle and perhaps he will get that shot in Cincinnati where a subpar offensive line might be the only reason the Bengals didn’t win the Super Bowl.

Next. Broncos still have this roster hole one year later. dark

The Broncos will still need a long-term option at right tackle.
