Another move the Denver Broncos may regret in 2022

2. Choosing Randy Gregory over Von Miller, Chandler Jones

I think the majority of Denver Broncos fans have really warmed up to the Randy Gregory signing at this point, especially considering the entire context of the 2022 offseason.

Others simply won’t be able to get past the idea that George Paton and company passed on Von Miller in free agency in order to sign Gregory.

Now, Miller did sign for $20 million per year with the Buffalo Bills (six years, $120 million), so he wound up costing a substantially higher price than Gregory (5 years, $70 million). Not to mention, Gregory is younger than Miller.

With that being said, the sentimental value of having Miller pales in comparison to his on-field impact, which we all saw in Super Bowl LVI when he was terrorizing Joe Burrow as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

Clearly, Von has not lost a step.

Chandler Jones is also a proven, elite pass rusher at the NFL level and signed with the Raiders for $17 million per year.

If Randy Gregory can notch just seven sacks in his first year in Denver, it will be a career-best for him. Chandler Jones had five sacks in one game last season.

That’s not the only measuring unit for pass rush productivity, of course, but I think it’s completely fair to be uncertain of signing Gregory over players like Miller and Jones.
