Denver Broncos bargain FA no. 2: Terrell Edmunds, S (Steelers)

Do the Denver Broncos believe in Caden Sterns as a starting safety next to Justin Simmons this coming season?

It’s odd that no one who has been given access has asked that question to George Paton yet, but they might not get a straight answer from him anyway.

While we await official word on what the Denver Broncos’ immediate plans are for Sterns, who was highly effective as a dime defensive back last season, I would argue that safety remains one of the team’s top needs overall.

Terrell is one-half of the stellar Edmunds brothers (his brother Tremaine plays for the Bills at LB) and has been allowed to walk in free agency by the Pittsburgh Steelers, who picked him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Over the last two seasons, Edmunds has had four interceptions and 14 passes defended in addition to more than 150 total tackles. Last season, he also had eight tackles for loss and showed off his ability to attack the line of scrimmage.

I’d absolutely love to see Edmunds and his elite athletic traits in Ejiro Evero’s defense for the Denver Broncos where he could pair up with Justin Simmons and potentially be a long-term option for the Broncos.

He just turned 25 this year so perhaps his best years are still to come.
