How will George Paton and the Denver Broncos finish out the 2022 NFL free agency frenzy? There is still plenty of work yet to be done.

The Denver Broncos pulled off the first big “splash” trade of the offseason when they acquired Russell Wilson from the Seahawks. The other big move was Randy Gregory to a multi-year deal.

The Broncos also added DJ Jones, kept some in-house guys aboard, and added depth. Are they done making headlines? The current cap figures show that Denver may be done occupying a whole segment on Good Morning Football or blowing the media’s mind, but there is still room to make some moves.

The first is finding a starter at the right tackle position. Brandon Shell is reportedly visiting on Tuesday and could be a fit, especially with his familiarity with Russell Wilson. The Broncos also have Tom Compton and Calvin Anderson on the roster although neither of them screams upgrade on paper.

Next is slot corner. Will they bring back Bryce Callahan, bring in outside help or trust that role in-house perhaps to Michael Ojemudia while acquiring depth via the draft?

Stephon Gilmore is still out there, but would probably require a little more salary than the Broncos can afford after last year’s spending spree in the secondary. For my money, I would love to see Callahan back in his familiar slot role.

Last but not least, the years-long offseason subject of inside linebacker. The Broncos brought Josey Jewell back and he would seem to be penciled in as one of the starters. They did also bring in Alex Singleton who formerly started for the Eagles and could start next to Jewell.

Baron Browning also started several games at ILB last season and held his own, but rumor has it via Mike Klis that he may shift to the edge. All of that said the fan base clamors for a dominant off-ball linebacker as has been the case for several years. That guy just might be another former Seahawk in Bobby Wagner.

A lot has changed for the Denver Broncos and the NFL for that matter. We will find out in the coming weeks how George Paton manages the remaining cap space and the NFL draft to finish off the 2022 Broncos roster.
