Denver Broncos free agency — offensive skill positions

Running back

There will be a lot of attention paid to the running back position because Melvin Gordon is one of the team’s top in-house free agents.

My official prediction is that Melvin Gordon is not back for 2022, as much as he has campaigned for it. It wouldn’t surprise me, however, to see the Denver Broncos go after another free agent back with ties to the coaching staff.

Leonard Fournette was drafted by Jacksonville when Nathaniel Hackett was the offensive coordinator and when Tyrone Wheatley was their running backs coach. He’s an every-down back who could give the Broncos two absolute bruisers along with Javonte Williams.

Wide receiver

The Broncos had so many injury issues at wide receiver over the last two years, they would be wise to go out and add someone in free agency that could start if need be. This team was scrambling for someone to play a starter role after losing both Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler early in the season.

The Broncos are a destination team now, remember? I think they should see what the price is for a year of Will Fuller and see if he would be able to give you anything. If Fuller’s up for it, he could also be your punt returner.

Tight End

The Broncos need a new TE1, in my opinion. I’ve outlined many options for this position already this offseason and I ultimately think the best course of action is to add someone like Tyler Conklin at this position in free agency, as much as I would love to see the Broncos get OJ Howard on a prove-it deal.

This year’s free agent crop, however, has absolutely no shortage of great and intriguing options.
