Backup quarterbacks for the Denver Broncos in 2022

Tyrod Taylor

Tyrod Taylor started 6 games for the Texans this year, but is most known for his solid stretch as a Buffalo Bill from 2015-2017.

During that time, he threw for 51 touchdowns on just 16 interceptions and earned a 92.5 passe rating.

Taylor is rock solid, but he is probably past any chance at starting for a team week 1.  He’s good to hold the fort down for a few weeks as a high quality backup, and I think Denver should be interested.

Tyrod Taylor has experience in this offense as well.  He ran this during his time in Buffalo and has a bit of overlap with Denver.

In 2017, Taylor’s offensive coordinator was Rick Dennison, who held the same role with the Denver Broncos in the year prior.

Taylor should have a solid understanding of this offense, so it would make sense to pursue him as a backup as hell.  He also is somewhat similar to Wilson in what he can do with his legs, which is a great bonus.

Teams should look for backup quarterbacks who are as close in play style to their starting signal caller as possible.

I think Taylor might be my top choice to be the Denver Broncos’ backup in 2022, but any of these options make a ton of sense.
