Backup quarterbacks for the Denver Broncos in 2022

Trevor Siemian

Can I interest you in a former Broncos’ starter who has won a Super Bowl and has a winning record with the team?

Trevor Siemian is a former 7th round pick who is most known for his 2016 season with the Denver Broncos.

Assuming that Denver has a winning record this year, 2016 was the last year that they did have a winning record.  In 2016, Denver went 9-7, and in Siemian’s de facto rookie season, he threw for 18 touchdowns on 10 interceptions, and if Gary Kubiak never stepped away from coaching, perhaps Siemian would have been able to continue his starting gig with Denver.

Since that 2016 season, Touchdown Trev as I call him has bounced around the league.  He was with the Saints in 2021, where he threw for 11 touchdowns on 3 interceptions.

Siemian is very clearly a backup quarterback, and seeing as he has experience in a outside zone offense, it would make sense for him to return to Denver to serve as Wilson’s primary backup.

He’s a veteran who is 30 years old and brings a fun personality to the team as well.

Plus, I think the familiarity with the team and city also could play into this decision.
