Denver Broncos FA leaving soon #5: Bobby Massie, OT

Considering how desperate some teams around the league are for help at the offensive tackle position, it’s kind of surprising that you don’t hear Bobby Massie’s name brought up all that often.

Is he the best right tackle in the NFL? No.

Is he a capable starter? Absolutely.

Unfortunately, Massie may not be a scheme fit for Nathaniel Hackett’s offense which is going to incorporate a lot of wide zone. There are a number of fits in free agency for the Denver Broncos at the right tackle position including Morgan Moses (Jets), Dennis Kelly (Packers), and Joseph Noteboom (Rams).

This year’s draft class is also deep at the offensive tackle position.

It just might not work out for Massie to stay in Denver but he should have a strong market after signing for less than $4 million with the Denver Broncos last offseason.

He played well enough to earn another multi-year deal from another team, and how many NFL teams are going to be looking for starters at the right tackle position this offseason?

A lot.

Bobby Massie won’t break the bank and he’s going to help some team right away. He should be off the board fairly early in free agency if teams are budget shopping at right tackle or miss out on their primary targets.
