Denver Broncos mock draft, third round (second pick)

3b. Abraham Lucas, OT, Washington State

The Denver Broncos will almost certainly have offensive tackle on the radar in this particular draft class.

This group is deep and very athletic at the tackle position.

There are multiple players in every round you could make a compelling case for. I’m not going to rule out a tackle with the Broncos’ top pick at this point, but I also think they’re likely to look for a starter in free agency as well (Morgan Moses could be a logical fit).

Even if the Broncos do go after a tackle in free agency, they might find themselves in a position where the best player on the board at some point in the top 100 is a tackle prospect.

Abraham Lucas showed off his elite athletic traits at the Scouting Combine and he could be the perfect fit for the new wide zone offense being implemented by Nathaniel Hackett and his staff.

Some scouts feel like Lucas could also make a transition to guard at the next level but for the Denver Broncos, he would project as a potential future starter at the right tackle position.

He’s got a ton of starting experience at Washington State and has put a lot out there on film for NFL teams to see. He could be a really nice fit for the Denver Broncos on day two to upgrade a position that has been a consistent problem area.
