Denver Broncos mock draft, second round (second pick)

2b. Leo Chenal, LB, Wisconsin

The Denver Broncos are building at the linebacker position.

In the 2021 NFL Draft, they were able to land Baron Browning with the final pick of the third round, an absolute steal no matter what way you look at it.

There are plenty of question marks going forward with the Denver Broncos at the linebacker position given the fact that all of: Josey Jewell, Alexander Johnson, Kenny Young, and Micah Kiser are free agents.

Could the Broncos re-sign one or two of those guys? That’s a possibility, no question. As of right now, though, they haven’t re-signed anybody. That could very well change and maybe Ejiro Evero would prefer to not have two very young linebackers running his defense, but the value of Leo Chenal at the bottom of the second round was too good to pass up on.

Chenal is an absolute bully at the inside linebacker position who racked up 18.5 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks last season.

One thing the Denver Broncos sorely missed last season with the absence of Alexander Johnson and Josey Jewell? Linebackers that excel at defending the run.

That’s something that Chenal can do but he’s also proven that he’s got the athleticism to have a much bigger role on all three downs.
