The Denver Broncos have roughly $40 million in cap space for free agency. This article covers one free agent from each team that the Broncos could sign.

Free agency is a fun and interesting time period.  With the Denver Broncos having around $40 million in cap space, they have the capacity to sign multiple high-profile free agents if they want.

Keeping with the free agency fun, this article will list one free agent from each team that the Denver Broncos could and should sign.

Obviously, Denver isn’t going to sign 15 free agents like this, but targeting some of these players would be to their benefit.

They have a few holes and have the money to bolster their roster for the arrival of a potential significant quarterback upgrade.

I think most of the players in this article will be on defense, but let’s get started.

Denver Broncos: Free agents from the AFC West

Kansas City Chiefs – Tyrann Mathieu, S

Tyrann Mathieu is one of the best safeties in the NFL, and with Denver potentially losing Kareem Jackson in free agency, replacing him with a player like Mathieu could make a ton of sense.

Denver needs to maintain their strong secondary, and while there are other safety targets who are younger, Mathieu’s familiarity with the AFC West could be a huge bonus here.

Las Vegas Raiders – Marcus Mariota, QB

Marcus Mariota is probably going to get a starting job this offseason, and the Broncos make sense as a landing spot, seeing as they don’t have a viable solution on the roster.

Mariota could come in and be a 1-2 year bridge while the team develops someone behind him.

This move probably won’t move the needle that much, but there is a possibility.

Los Angeles Chargers – Linval Joseph, DL

At 33, Linval Joseph might be well out of his prime, but he is a large man who excels at stopping the run, something Denver needs help with.

Signing older free agents to short deals makes a lot of sense if Denver can land Aaron Rodgers in a trade, so I don’t think this signing is unlikely.

Even if the team does not get an Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson, signing someone to stop the run should still be a top priority.

Denver Broncos: Free agents from the AFC East

New York Jets – Morgan Moses, OT

I am back on my Morgan Moses hype.  This man has not missed in a game in about 219 years and is as stable as it gets on the offensive line.

Moses can be a multiple-year plug-and-play starter for the Denver Broncos and would allow them to take their time in finding a younger solution with higher upside.

Moses stays on the field, which is something Bobby Massie struggled with.  Morgan Moses is also younger than Massie as well.

Buffalo Bills – Mitchell Trubisky, QB

Mitchell Trubisky is a hot name so far.  He will be highly coveted in free agency and could be a short-term solution for Denver.

I am pretty high on Trubisky; I think he can be a viable solution for the team.  The Matt Nagy era in Chicago was a disaster, and Trubisky still went 25-13 in his 38 starts under Nagy.

He will get a starting job this offseason, and Denver is very well in play for that.

New England Patriots – J.C. Jackson, CB

I have written about J.C. Jackson a bunch of times, and my position remains the same.

Ronald Darby can easily be released next offseason, so giving Jackson a ton of money is not out of the question.

If the team signs Jackson, they could boast a cornerback room that features himself, Darby, and Patrick Surtain II.

Opposing offenses’ passing game would be greatly limited by this elite secondary.

Miami Dolphins – Phillip Lindsay, RB

Why not re-sign Phillip Lindsay and allow him to play in an offense tailored to his strengths?

Many quickly realized that Lindsay would excel in an outside zone scheme, which is what Denver is going to run under Nathaniel Hackett.

Lindsay needs no introduction.  He was a beast for Denver and would thrive as a backup piece to Javonte Williams.  I think this move makes a lot of sense and would love to see Denver bring Phil back.

Denver Broncos: Free agents from the AFC North

Baltimore Ravens – Bradley Bozeman, C

Bozeman has experience playing at both guard and center and was good at both.  He’s a nasty player who would give the Broncos a much-needed boost on the interior.

I am one of those who think the Denver Broncos’ offensive line needs a bit of help, especially on the interior, so bringing someone like Bozeman in solves a big issue at center.

Pittsburgh Steelers – Trai Turner, OG

Seeing a theme here?  Turner’s best days might behind him, but he’s a five-time Pro Bowler and won’t turn 30 until next season.  Turner played all 17 games this season, perhaps putting a rest to his injury concerns.

Turner would be a cheaper but effective option for Denver and could slide in at left guard.  I think Quinn Meinerz has the right guard spot locked up for years to come, but I do think there is some uncertainty with the left guard position.

Cleveland Browns – Jadeveon Clowney, EDGE

Jadeveon Clowney seemingly has never lived up to his draft status, but he is still an effective player all these years later.

He can rush the passer adequately and is a menace in the run game.

Denver needs to get better along their front seven, and Clowney could help that.  I would think that the Browns could ideally like to keep him, but if he hits the open market, Denver could probably outbid the Browns for his services if they truly wanted him.

The team simply needs to generate more with their pass rush, and Clowney could be that guy.

Cincinnati Bengals – Riley Reiff, OT

Denver could turn to a solid, veteran tackle to fill their right tackle position if they wanted.

Reiff is a left tackle first but has played solidly at right tackle during his long career, which began in 2012 with the Detroit Lions.

Reiff played for the Bengals this season, and with Cincinnati set to undergo a massive offensive line shift, they may decide to not bring Reiff back.  He is by no means elite, but he’s very solid.

Denver Broncos: Free agents from the AFC South

Tennessee Titans – Harold Landry, EDGE

Landry was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2018 NFL Draft and enjoyed a career year in 2021, amassing 12.0 sacks and putting himself in line for a massive payday.

As we know, Denver needs a boost of the edge and someone to pair with Bradley Chubb.

My first choice would be Chandler Jones, but Landry is set to turn just 26 this offseason, so he could give Denver much-needed long-term stability.

Houston Texans – Desmond King, CB

I am a huge Desmond King fan and have wanted him to sign with Denver for multiple years now.  King, a former All-Pro, could take Bryce Callahan’s spot as the nickel.  He does not have the injury history that Callahan does and has elite return ability.

Again, this goes back to Denver’s need to keep their secondary as stacked as possible.  King can help provide that and would not be too expensive for Denver to sign.

Jacksonville Jaguars – DJ Chark, WR

In the event that the Denver Broncos possibly trade one of their wide receivers for a quarterback, signing someone like DJ Chark makes a lot of sense.

The 6’4′, 200-pound product put up 1,000 yards in 2019 and only played in four games in 2021.  Chark is still just 25 and is 6’4″.  Did I mention he is 6’4″?

The combination of size and speed is insanely valuable in the NFL.  Denver should at least sign Chark just to make sure no other AFC West foe does.

Indianapolis Colts – Mark Glowinski, OG

Mark Glowinski has been a part of one of the best offensive lines in football over the past few seasons.

Glowinski has missed just one game the past three seasons.  He stays on the field and is an absolute mauler.

Pairing Glowinski with Quinn Meinerz would give the Denver Broncos a pair of insanely nasty and tough guards.  Denver needs to re-establish their identity as being a run-first team, and having a nasty offensive line is a great start.
