Broncos Scouting Combine 2022: First Day Impressions
By Brett Chaves
Taking a look at the first day of the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine and how the workouts might impact what the Denver Broncos do in the NFL Draft.
The NFL Combine: isn’t this one of the best times of the year?
While this year’s draft class may not be as “exciting” as years past, it still provides one of the most well-balanced classes we have seen in quite some time.
Looking at this class from a general perspective, it appears that most of the class is on a “pass rusher” basis. This means that a lot of the talent comes from either defensive end, defensive tackle, or in some cases, linebacker.
Don’t be fooled, however. There are plenty of other groups that offer replenishing skills to any NFL roster. The tight ends and offensive linemen fall under this category.
At the end of all the hoopla, a few prospects will shine and put themselves above and beyond the others.
In the Denver Broncos case, they’re hoping these prospects are the ones directly on their board.
The Broncos are in a strange position come draft night. Due to the recent trades made during the regular season, there are more holes in the roster that now need to be filled.
For example: the Von Miller trade.
There is also a chance the Broncos go crazy and draft a quarterback with the ninth overall selection. Many believe this is the end of the road for Drew Lock, and the combine could be the beginning step in his exit.
I have the opportunity to attend the combine throughout the course of the weekend. At the end of the first day, here are some of the biggest takeaways for the Broncos from the three position groups.
