. . LB. DevinLloyd. . 843. Utah. player

First-round, No. 15 overall: Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah

Number 15? The Broncos hold the No. 9 overall pick, correct? They do, but in this scenario, they were able to trade down and get an extra first-round choice for the number 9 pick, in which most of the players you would expect were off the board. Here were the first eight choices:

1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Kayvon Thibodeaux, DE, Oregon

2. Detroit Lions: Aidan Hutchinson, DE, Michigan

3. Houston Texans: Derek Stingley, Jr., CB, LSU

4. New York Jets: Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame

5. New York Giants: Ikem Ekwonu, T, North Carolina State

6. Carolina Panthers: Charles Cross, T, Mississippi State

7. New York Giants: Evan Neal, T, Alabama

8. Atlanta Falcons: George Karlaftis, DE, Purdue

You will see many mock drafts that have the Broncos getting Devin Lloyd with the No. 9 overall choice and that would be a solid pick, but in this scenario, they were still able to nab him six slots later. But first, let’s look at that trade:

With that pick, the Eagles selected Drake London, a wide receiver out of USC.

The Broncos went with Lloyd who many see as the best overall linebacker in this draft. The reason why is because he has the ability to be a three-down linebacker, something that seems to be becoming more and more rare.

But Lloyd can give you a little bit of everything. He has sideline to sideline range and he can also drop back into coverage better than probably any backer in this class. He is not only able to do that, but he also does so at a high level, able to stick with many different types of players including wide receivers, tight ends and running backs.

A three-year starter for the Utes, Lloyd also had 15.5 sacks during his college career, including seven in 2021.

This would be a terrific pick at No. 15 for the Broncos.
