Denver Broncos 4 offensive free agents to prioritize in 2022
Denver Broncos offensive FA target no. 4: Morgan Moses, OT
One area the Denver Broncos have to address this offseason is the right tackle position. This year’s NFL Draft class at the tackle position looks incredibly deep, but George Paton is not one to just sit back and wait for the Draft to address an area of need.
Last offseason, and throughout the year, we saw Paton really attack weak areas on the team by adding multiple guys at each position.
Even if a rookie would come in and end up starting, I don’t think that should prevent the Broncos from going out and getting Morgan Moses on a 2-3 year contract at fair value for a player who is on the other side of 30.
One thing about Moses that stands out among all other traits — availability. This guy simply does not miss games and hasn’t for a handful of years.
One connection to keep in mind here — the Denver Broncos just hired Jake Moreland as their tight ends coach. Moreland was an assistant offensive line coach with the New York Jets last year where Morgan Moses obviously started at the right tackle position.
It’s always helpful for a free agent to have a coach on a staff with another team that can vouch for them, and Moses played very well last year for the Jets in an offense that is going to be very similar to what the Broncos run.
As solid as Bobby Massie was in 2021, he might not be as good of a scheme fit for Denver as a player like Moses would be. Even though he’s already 30, Moses could be a longer-term option if he continues to play at the level we saw last season.
