Broncos trade with Rams: Troy Reeder, Linebacker

The Broncos have three inside linebackers ready to hit free agency this offseason, including the aforementioned Young. Reportedly, there is a mutual interest between the team and Josey Jewell to keep things where they are at, but Alexander Johnson is a guy the team will have to make a decision on as well.

Troy Reeder is an interesting option from the Rams.

Undrafted in 2019, Reeder has worked his way into the starting lineup of a championship defense and was third on the team in tackles this past season. He has gone from a fringe roster guy to an integral piece.

But the Rams can replace him with last year’s third-round pick, Ernest Jones, and get a fifth-round pick in the process.

The Lions would probably like a higher pick in return, but for an undrafted player, getting a fifth is not bad at all. Paton would send the extra fifth-rounder he got from the Detroit Lions in exchange for Trinity Benson last year to the Rams.

Reeder would come in and push for a starting position, depending on who the Broncos were able to retain between Johnson, Jewell and Young. But even if they somehow lost all three of them, Reeder paired with second-year linebacker Baron Browning wouldn’t be the worst thing.
