Denver Broncos free agents: Best fit for Melvin Gordon

I am very firmly in the “Do not re-sign Melvin Gordon under any circumstances” group.  This is Javonte Williams’ show now, and no one needs to be in the way.

Gordon is set to turn 29 going into the 2022 season and is approaching the back nine of his career, especially as a running back.

Running backs have a much shorter shelf life in the NFL than most other positions, and given that Gordon can expect to receive a $5 million contract this offseason, there is no reason why the Broncos should entertain that.

There are going to be much cheaper and younger options in free agency, and there will surely be some players in the draft who could come in as a backup as well.

I do not think giving Melvin Gordon $5 million is a wise decision.  I think Denver would be able to retain a much more valuable position back like right tackle with Bobby Massie, or linebacker with Josey Jewell.

Melvin Gordon should be able to land an every-down back role with a team hurting for that position.  I think the Miami Dolphins make the most sense for Gordon.
