Denver Broncos best fits for free agent players in 2022
The Denver Broncos are set to have some 2021 contributors hit the open market in 2022. Where are the best fits for some of the team’s free agents?
The Denver Broncos 2021 season was another to forget. The team went 7-10, missing the playoffs for the 6th straight year.
Even with Teddy Bridgewater putting up respectable numbers, and the team boasting the third-best scoring defense, the Broncos could not win enough games to get in.
As we head into the 2022 offseason, Denver is poised to be active players with both draft capital and cap space.
Denver can choose to spend big in free agency if they want, or they can work on retaining some of their in-house free agent players.
With the uncertainty of the quarterback position, even George Paton himself does not know how this offseason will go.
With that said, let’s take a look at some of the best free agent fits for current Broncos’ free agent players.
Denver Broncos free agents: Best fit for Teddy Bridgewater
Teddy Bridgewater did what he’s done his entire career; he produced respectable numbers but was not able to come from behind or lead an offense to victory.
He had the occasional great outing but also had games where us fans were left scratching our collective heads.
The Teddy Bridgewater experiment was a massive failure. The team thought they could get away with having a strong defense, safe quarterback, and strong run game, but that is clearly falling out of favor in the NFL.
This method that the Denver Broncos relied on in 2015, and have been trying to replicate since then, is simply not a viable option in the NFL anymore.
With that said, Teddy Bridgewater will surely not be brought back, but he will have suitors. In fact, he might have quite a few suitors.
Teams are looking for the one year bandage option, and Teddy Bridgewater can provide that. You’ll most likely see him in another quarterback competition this offseason, perhaps with a rookie draft pick.
Look for Teddy Bridgewater to sign with someone like the Washington Commanders, who need a boost under center, but also may draft a rookie and allow them to develop as the backup.
