The Denver Broncos would be wise to explore the trade market to improve their roster. Could they strike a deal or two with the Washington Commanders?

The Washington Commanders are in a similar spot to the Denver Broncos. Both teams have a solid roster but are missing an answer at quarterback.

Just because both teams have a strong roster, does not mean their work is done. The Commanders, like the Broncos, do have a good bit of cap space to sign free agents, extend some of their own, and perhaps swing a trade or two.

However, I believe there are some players on Washington that the Denver Broncos could use for their benefit.

Being that Denver has nearly $40 million in cap space and 11 draft picks, they have the facilities needed to make significant trades and/or free-agent signings.

I also think trading with a team is more likely to happen if both parties are in different conferences.

Trading Von Miller to an AFC rival would have made little sense, for example, but trading him to an NFC contender made a ton of sense.

With that said, here are a few trade candidates with the Washington Commanders.

Landon Collins, S

Ok, so Landon Collins is an interesting one. He signed a massive deal with the Commanders before the 2019 season.

He played in just 7 games in 2020 but returned to play in 13 in 2021.

Collins is a liability in coverage, and Washington realized that during this season, so they moved him closer to the line of scrimmage, and he played more of a hybrid linebacker role for the team, finishing the season on a strong note.

Unfortunately for Washington, he has not lived up to his six-year, $84 million contract signed a few seasons ago.

Moreover, the Commanders could save nearly $12 million by trading him.

With Collins not performing up to his contract, and Washington being able to free up a ton of cap space by trading him, could the Denver Broncos come calling?

Landon Collins would surely have to be used in a hybrid role in Denver, but the team is set to have Kyle Fuller, Kareem Jackson, and Bryce Callahan hit free agency, so adding a Pro Bowl player like Collins could make some sense.
