Broncos must improve the pass rush

If the Broncos are going to double-up or even triple-up on a position this offseason, expect it to be the edge rusher spot.

When the Broncos traded Von Miller away last season, they did get some extra draft picks. But they were giving up one of the best pass rushers in the league and making Bradley Chubb the main option off the edge.

Chubb has been unavailable as often as he’s been available and behind him, the Broncos have Malik Reed and Jonathon Cooper. If the team chooses to bring back Stephen Weatherly, you can throw him in there for the occasional timely sack, but no one is really afraid of facing that unit.

The Broncos must make some moves to add some spice to the edge rusher spot and if I’m Paton, I’m doing so through free agency and the draft.

Jadeveon Clowney and Randy Gregory are two options I like through free agency but you could also see the Broncos go and make a splash move such as signing Chandler Jones who ranks second among active sack leaders all-time, behind just Miller.

If the Broncos choose to go through the draft to find pass-rush help, this is the draft to do that. The draft is loaded with difference-makers in the pass-rushing department and with all of the picks he has at his disposal, you could see Paton take a couple of them.
