Get stronger at right tackle

Another very obvious and easy decision, the Broncos need help at the right tackle spot and that has been the case for some time. They need a legitimate option there eventually.

Bobby Massie played fine last year, but he was nothing special, nor will he be at this stage in his career. It would be fine to bring him back on a one-year deal, but the Broncos need to go out and find a player that can man this spot for the long term.

The free-agent market is not saturated with top-notch players at this position, so it may be best to look through the draft. Minnesota’s Daniel Faalele and UCLA’s Sean Rhyan are two prospects you will likely see getting mocked to the Broncos several times before April’s selection process, but there are many good options in the draft.

The best plan of action to take would be to do just that, re-sign Massie and draft a right tackle within the first three rounds. Paton is not going to find a better option for a good price on the open market unless he can swing a trade.

If the Broncos can get a good option at right tackle, one who can keep up a high level of play on a consistent basis to pair with Garett Bolles on the left side, then whoever ends up playing quarterback next year will start with a good foundation.

The Broncos missed badly on Ja’Wuan James and last year, options were limited when he went down. Paton did his best to patch the hole but it’s time to find the right guy.
