Re-sign inside linebackers

The Broncos have three inside linebackers set to hit free agency and all three could get a good look from other teams.

Baron Browning looks like a good piece for the future but beyond him, the team doesn’t have a lot. That makes Alexander Johnson, Josey Jewell and Kenny Young some of the biggest potential free agents the Broncos have of their own.

Johnson and Jewell both missed most of the 2021 season with injuries but both players, particularly Johnson, were trending in the right direction before those injuries.

Young was obtained in a trade from the Los Angeles Rams. Sadly that meant he missed the opportunity to win a Super Bowl ring but hopefully he can be seen as a piece of Denver’s future and the team brings him back to see what he can do.

The quartet if Johnson, Browning, Jewell and Young can be a strong core.

Paton needs to be able to re-sign two of these guys, but bringing all three back would be fine. If they lose two of them or all three, the inside linebacker position will need to be addressed early in the draft, something the Broncos have chosen not to do for quite some time.
