Denver Broncos trade target #2: ILB Mack Wilson

Browns inside linebacker Mack Wilson had an awesome rookie year in 2019 when he recorded 82 tackles, one sack, and four quarterback hits. Unfortunately, after starting 14 games as a rookie, Wilson’s starts reduced to a total of 14 over the next two seasons.

Wilson appears to have fallen out of favour in Cleveland due to the second-round selection of Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. It would make perfect sense for both sides to make a trade happen involving Wilson. For the Broncos, they would be getting a potential replacement for Alexander Johnson or Josey Jewell, both who are scheduled to hit free agency.

The Broncos would absolutely welcome another linebacker who can cover tight ends and running backs. In a division that has several good or great ones at either of those positions, it’s imperative that they replace an okay linebacker with an even better one.

In July of last year, an article from ESPN came out with one player on each team who could get released. For the Cleveland Browns, Wilson was Jake Trotter’s choice for the Browns’ cut candidate.

The Broncos have an entirely new coaching staff, including Peter Hansen as the team’s linebackers coach. Maybe a fresh start for Wilson would be a good idea.
