Jordan Love, Quarterback

If not one quarterback, why not the other?

I touched on the idea of the Broncos trading for Jordan Love last year, and it’s an idea that could still have some legs.

The Packers’ selection of Love remains one of the more mysterious draft picks in recent memory and why they used a first-round choice on him is anyone’s guess. Depending on who you are willing to listen to, he’s either still grasping the professional game or he is utterly terrible and has no future.

But coming into the draft, which wasn’t all that long ago, he had plenty of analysts ranting and raving. He throws a beautiful football and has crazy arm talent. He can also be a dual-threat quarterback that can make basically all of the throws.

In Green Bay, he hasn’t been great when called upon. He appeared in six games this past season and made one start in place of Rodgers, completing just 58.1 percent of his passes while throwing for two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Many Packers fans likely have no belief in him at this point but how many reps does he really get per week? How confident is he in the fact that the organization believes in him as a potential future option?

It can’t be easy being in the shadow of Rodgers and that’s exactly where he will be as long as Rodgers is there, similar to how Rodgers had it with Brett Favre.

But in the right setting, Love could be terrific.

Like the others on this list, he knows what to expect out of Hackett and that could be a huge advantage. If the Broncos were to trade for him, and not give up Drew Lock in the package, those two could compete for the team’s starting quarterback job in 2021.
