Denver Broncos trade ideas with the Pittsburgh Steelers

Zach Banner, OL

Could the Denver Broncos trade for the right tackle?  Maybe.  Banner, who was supposed to be the Steelers’ long-term answer at the position, tore his ACL at the beginning of the 2020 season and played sparingly in 2021 after he was fully recovered.

The Steelers re-signed Banner before the 2021 season to a two-year deal, but they might be wise to move on from him.

Playing in just seven games in 2021, Banner’s contract doesn’t exactly match his contributions anymore, and the Steelers could save $5 million from moving on from him.

Banner has had spurts of good play during his brief career, so he might be worth a late-round pick to Denver.

He just turned 28 and is under contract for one more season.

Since Denver doesn’t have a long-term solution on the roster, it would be wise to trade for someone who’s young, since the right tackle free agent market is mostly old, mediocre players.

Banner’s contract is also very inexpensive, so if Denver were to trade for him and they weren’t satisfied with his performance during the offseason, they could easily move on from him.

Not every trade in the NFL needs to be groundbreaking, and this would be a trade that doesn’t exactly make the front page news, but it could be a smart investment for Denver.
