Denver Broncos trade ideas with the Pittsburgh Steelers

Stephon Tuitt, DT

Could the Denver Broncos try and trade for a quality defensive lineman?  Stephon Tuitt missed the entire 2021 season but could be on the move before 2022.

Drafted in 2014, Tuitt appeared in each game during his rookie season but has not been able to put together a full season since.

In 2020 he played in 15 games and racked up 11.0 sacks.  He has 34.5 on his career and would give Denver a much-needed pass rush boost on the interior.

Stephon Tuitt missed the entire 2021 season with a knee injury he suffered in training camp, and the Steelers could save roughly $9 million by trading him during the offseason.

While it might not be smart to trade for a player who does have an injury history, there aren’t exactly many quality free agent defensive line options for Denver to choose from, so swinging a trade might make sense.

Stephon Tuitt will turn 29 before the season begins, so he wouldn’t necessarily be a long-term option, but he’s an above-average player and was sorely missed by the Steelers defense in 2021.  Pittsburgh, by nearly every metric, was one of the worst rushing defenses in 2021.

So, it’s pretty clear that they missed Stephon Tuitt, a quality run stuffer with pass-rush ability.
