The Pittsburgh Steelers may be in a transition period, and the Denver Broncos should call them about the availability of some of their players.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are perhaps going to be in a transition period after the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger.  The Denver Broncos could call them and see if they would be willing to part with some of their veterans.

Pittsburgh needs to rebuild its offensive line and get younger on defense.  They have more holes than Denver and would be wise to unload some veteran players’ contracts for draft capital and extra cap space.

I would expect general manager George Paton to explore every opportunity possible to try and improve his team, and trading with teams is certainly on the table.

While the Steelers have quite a few holes, they do have some talented players that the Broncos could use on their team. So, which Pittsburgh Steelers would make the most sense for the Denver Broncos in a trade?

Denver does have a need in the middle of their defense.  I think this no longer becomes a need if they elect to re-sign one of or more of Alexander Johnson, Josey Jewell, and Kenny Young.

Even if Denver brings one or more of them back, trading for a quality linebacker like Schobert makes a lot of sense.

He was drafted by the Browns in 2016, played for the Jaguars in 2020 and 2021, and was traded to the Steelers during the 2021 season.

Schobert made the Pro Bowl in 2017 and has had at least 100 combined tackles in each year since then. He’s consistent and stays on the field as well.  Schobert has missed just four games in his career and is set to turn 29 this November.

Schobert could provide a quality presence in the middle of the defense, and would make a nice pairing with Baron Browning.
