The Denver Broncos will be looking for players to upgrade their pass-rush once free agency kicks off.

The start of the new league year is less than one month away. The Denver Broncos are going to be turning over every stone in search of a top-level pass-rusher to pair with Bradley Chubb, who will need to have a very big year for himself.

Expect the Broncos to add an Edge rusher both through free agency and the draft and there are good options in both.

The Broncos should look no further than Harold Landry

The Broncos will take a close look at each of the free-agent Edge rushers available this offseason, some of which can be found here. But Harold Landry, a former second-round pick of the Tennessee Titans, could be a perfect fit for what they are looking for.

Landry had been a pretty average player for Mike Vrabel’s team, that was until this past season.

In his first three seasons in the league, Landry accounted for a total of 19 sacks. He had 12 sacks in the 2021 season alone. That puts the Titans in a predicament in terms of what to do with him going forward.

But the Broncos have the money to spend and the Titans don’t. According to Over the Cap, the Titans are currently projected at $7.8 million in the hole in terms of cap space. They will have to dump some contracts just to be able to get in position to retain Landry.

The Broncos, on the other hand, have more money to spend than all but five teams and can afford to be quite aggressive on the market. Landry makes a lot of sense as a free-agent signing.

The Broncos had a solid defense in 2021, giving up the third-fewest points per game. But if there was a weakness, it was rushing the passer.

The idea of a reunion with Von Miller has been tossed around, but after the Los Angeles Rams won Super Bowl LVI, Miller has talked about wanting to stay in L.A. and try to run it back with Aaron Donald and company.

Big-name pass-rushers such as Miller, Chandler Jones and Jadeveon Clowney will get plenty of attention from interested teams, but after posting a career year, Landry should not be overlooked.

If the Broncos were to line Landry up opposite Chubb and have Malik Reed along with a top prospect in the draft, the team could become one of the better pass-rushing defenses in the league just like that.

In fact, signing a player like Landry could be George Paton’s top priority when the new league year opens, aside from figuring out who his quarterback is going to be.

The Broncos could be an attractive destination for Landry, who could come in and play with Chubb, Justin Simmons, Patrick Surtain and a great core of players on top of getting a nice payday out of it.

This move makes a lot of sense for both sides.
