Denver Broncos secondary targets

J.C. Jackson, CB

J.C. Jackson is a really, really good cornerback.  Jackson, who just turned 26, is set to cash in this offseason.

Jackson, who won a Super Bowl with New England, made the Pro Bowl in 2021 and an All-Pro, is one of the game’s top secondary players.

Furthermore, he’s an absolute ballhawk, intercepting 17 passes the past two seasons and 25 for his four-year career thus far.  He also led the league this year with 23 passes defensed.

Jackson gravitates towards the ball, much like Justin Simmons and Patrick Surtain II.  Imagine for a second adding J.C. Jackson to this secondary?  As for the financials, according to Spotrac, J.C. Jackson could expect a contract nearing $20 million per year, which would be a massive commitment from Denver.

Would George Paton hand J.C. Jackson a $100 million contract over 5 years?  Maybe.

Doing this would essentially all but guarantee that Ronald Darby gets cut in 2023, which is fine, but a potential duo of Surtain and Jackson could be deadly.

I do not think Denver needs to break the bank like this on a cornerback, but they have the money to do so, and an attractive defensive destination.
