Denver Broncos: Invest in the defensive line

It’s no secret that the Bengals’ offensive line struggled all year to protect Joe Burrow.

The Bengals will almost certainly make rebuilding the offensive line their number one priority this offseason. Even after a rebuild, the Broncos should still prioritize pass rush help in the draft and in free agency.

Interior defensive linemen Shelby Harris and Dre’Mont Jones look to continue their strong play, but finding impact players along the edge should be a top priority for George Paton. 7th round rookie Jonathon Cooper played well above expectations and should be a rotational piece on a bargain contract for the foreseeable future.

However, Bradley Chubb’s impact has been up-and-down since his stellar rookie season. Time will tell if Chubb can live up to the hype of being a 5th overall pick. In the meantime, the Denver Broncos would be wise to find a complement to Chubb on the other side of the defense.

The 2022 NFL Draft is loaded with talent along the edge. If the Denver Broncos retain their 9th overall pick in this year’s draft, edge could absolutely be the pick for George Paton.

Finding difference-makers along the defensive line is a key to slowing down the best offenses in the NFL. Investing in edge rushers this offseason should be a priority for the Denver Broncos.
