Led by Joe Burrow, the Bengals are officially back. So, how should the Denver Broncos give themselves a chance to contend with the Bengals going forward?

The 2021-22 NFL Season has come and gone for the Denver Broncos. It’s time to look forward to the future, specifically the 2022-23 NFL Season.

However, contending in a loaded AFC won’t be an easy task.

We’re all familiar with the powerhouse teams at the top of the AFC, such as the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Tennessee Titans. But after their improbable Super Bowl run, it’s time to put Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals among the contenders as well.

Led by Burrow and star rookie Ja’Marr Chase, the Bengals made it all the way to the Super Bowl, knocking off the Titans and Chiefs in dramatic fashion to get there. The outstanding play of Burrow and his receiving corps should be on the minds of George Paton and the front office when constructing the team for the upcoming season.

The Bengals may not be the odds-on favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl next year, but the Broncos should absolutely add pieces to contend with Cincinnati. So, how should the Denver Broncos give themselves a chance to contend with the Bengals going forward?

Denver Broncos: Find “The Guy” at quarterback

Whether it be through trade, free agency, or the draft, the Denver Broncos need to find the answer at quarterback in order to contend in the AFC.

The Cincinnati Bengals experienced the importance of having a star quarterback firsthand with the selection of Joe Burrow in the 2020 NFL Draft. Since then, Burrow has blossomed into a star, and should only improve going forward.

It’s imperative for Denver to find the right guy at the quarterback position. A true difference maker immediately puts the Denver Broncos in contention among the other powerhouse teams in the AFC and gives the team a chance to win against anyone, including the Bengals.
