Michael Ojemudia, Cornerback

Michael Ojemudia had a second season in the NFL to forget.

After playing in all 16 games as a rookie in 2020, Ojemudia played in just two games in 2021. The Broncos loaded up at the cornerback position during the offseason by signing Ronald Darby and Kyle Fuller through free agency before using their first-round pick on Patrick Surtain.

But Ojemudia started to slip right when training camp started and before you knew it, he was listed as the fifth cornerback on the depth chart behind the three names mentioned above and Bryce Callahan.

All of those players are still currently on the roster, though much of Ojemudia’s future could depend on what the team does with Fuller and Callahan, who are both free agents.

It’s unlikely that the team would move on from a player they used a third-round pick on less than two years ago, but he is going to have to prove that he is 100 percent injury-free and ready to reclaim his status with the team.

The 2021 season was basically wasted for him as he spent the majority of it on injured reserve, but if the new coaching staff is confident in what they see in him, the team will likely allow either Callahan or Fuller, to walk.
