Denver Broncos non-Aaron Rodgers QB option: Jameis Winston, free agent

Coming off of injury, what is Jameis Winston’s free agent value going to be?

The former Heisman Trophy winner and number one overall pick was playing some really good ball for the New Orleans Saints before going down with a torn ACL, prematurely ending what could have been the best season of his NFL career to date.

With the pace he was on last season, if he had matched his previous career-high in pass attempts (626), his touchdown percentage (8.7) extrapolated to 54 touchdowns over the course of the whole season.

Even if he got close to 40, it would have been a massive year for Winston, who had a 30-interception season back in 2019.

One of the teams Winston had great success against was early in the 2021 season against the Green Bay Packers.

He threw five touchdowns against Green Bay en route to a 38-3 victory.

That performance may have made an impression on the staff currently in Denver as many of them witnessed it firsthand.

I think in an offense like the one we’re going to see from Nathaniel Hackett, Winston could be a great fit and might not cost the Denver Broncos a ton compared to other players.

With no Sean Payton and no offensive coordinator currently in New Orleans, anything should still be on the table for Winston even though many see it as a foregone conclusion he will return to the Saints. He just turned 28 in January and has a long career ahead of him.
