Denver Broncos 3 most disappointing players in 2021
Denver Broncos most disappointing players in 2022 – Theodore Edmond Bridgewater, Jr
The Denver Broncos got a taste of the Teddy Bridgewater experience in 2021. While he was solid statistically, Teddy often failed to elevate the team when necessary and was effectively useless if the team was trailing.
To be fair, Teddy probably had the best season of his career, and really was nothing different than what he’s been. He’s at best a mid-tier starter at times but usually hovers around the low-tier/high-quality backup range, which is perfectly fine.
Playing quarterback in the NFL is perhaps the single hardest thing to do in professional sports, and Teddy Bridgewater is one of a select few who can do it at the NFL level.
However, he is not what the Denver Broncos needed in 2021, and it felt like he disappointed, even for what we expected him to be.
In 2021, Bridgewater completed about 67% of his passes for 18 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 14 games played.
If he played all 17 games, he’d have been on pace for 22 touchdowns against 8-9 interceptions.
That sounds pretty solid, but when you give context, the results are less than that.
Bridgewater is a perfect bridge solution for a team that is looking to develop someone, like a rookie.
Denver might end up drafting one, but I do not think Teddy should be retained. He can probably earn a stronger contract elsewhere, and with the Denver Broncos seemingly in on every potential veteran quarterback, settling for another year of Teddy is a wasted year.
