Denver Broncos offensive linemen targets for 2022 and beyond
The Denver Broncos’ offensive line, by most metrics in 2021, was league average. Who can the team target in free agency to make them better than that?
Most in Broncos Country seem to think the team’s offensive line isn’t any good. I’ve seen tweets, posts, comments under articles, and many other statements claiming the team’s line is mediocre.
They aren’t far off, but by most metrics in 2021, the Broncos’ O-line was league average, which is fine.
Teams can win Super Bowls with weak roster spots. Just look at the Bengals, who boast perhaps the league’s worst offensive line but are in the Super Bowl.
The Rams happen to have a rather weak inside linebacking tandem, but they made the big game as well.
There is no such thing as a complete team, in my opinion, so the Broncos offensive line not being among the league’s very best isn’t reason to panic.
However, no matter who is quarterbacking the team in 2022, having a strong O-line can indeed shift entire games in certain directions.
So, who would be some free-agent targets for the Broncos along the offensive line in 2022 and beyond?
Denver Broncos offensive line targets for 2022 – Morgan Moses
I love Morgan Moses. This now will be the second offseason in a row that I’d like the team to sign him. Moses, who was drafted by Washington, played this year with the Jets.
Moses was drafted in 2014 and has played in every game since 2015. He’s played over 90 percent of his team’s offensive snaps since 2015 and has only been penalized 9 times in the past 2 seasons.
He’s got outstanding size–he’s 6-foot-6 and graded out as a very solid 71.0 this season, according to PFF.
While it’s understandable that the Broncos would want to find someone at right tackle for the long-term, why can’t Moses be that guy?
He’ll be just 31 in a few weeks, which is by no means old for an offensive linemen.
Bobby Massie filled in very solidly in 2021, but I do not think he’s as talented as Moses. Plus, Moses has shown exceptional ability to stay on the field, which is half the battle.
If the Denver Broncos want to enjoy quality right tackle play, whether for one year or longer, Moses would provide that for the team.
