An underrated need for the Denver Broncos is along the defensive line. Who are some free agents that the team could sign for 2022 and beyond?

The Denver Broncos defense was up and down this season, but finished as one of the better units in the NFL.  They finished as the 3rd best scoring defense but still had a few issues.

One of those issues was their run defense, which ranked 15th in the NFL. Injuries at linebacker and inconsistent play from the defensive line contributed to this.  While Shelby Harris and Dre’Mont Jones are slated to start along the line for the 2022 season, the rest of the unit, including depth pieces, are up in the air.

McTelvin Agim has been a non-factor during his first two seasons, and Shamar Stephen was an OK depth piece, to begin with, but isn’t in the team’s long-term plans.

While targeting a defensive lineman or two in the draft would be smart, so would signing someone in free agency.

So, who are some free agent defensive linemen to target when free agency begins in March?

Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh has been one of the most consistent players in the NFL during the last decade.  Suh, who was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2010, has been a borderline Hall of Fame player during his career.

In 12 seasons, Suh has missed just two games.  With nearly 200 regular season games under his belt, Suh has seen it all.

He is absurdly strong and still has some pass-rush upside.  He’s 35 years old, which is very old, especially for a player on the defensive line, but Suh has managed to put forth an exceptional NFL career.

With 12 sacks, 32 quarterback hits, and 71 combined tackles over the past two seasons, Suh is still playing at a high level and is someone the Denver Broncos should target, to at least fill a void for a year or so while they look to bring youth along the defensive front.
