Denver Broncos QB option No. 6: Jimmy Garoppolo, 49ers

Yes, Broncos Country, I think we need to brace for the very legitimate possibility of Jimmy Garoppolo in Denver.

Garoppolo has two of the top qualities the Broncos are looking for at the position — again, intelligence and toughness — but he also now has four years of experience running Kyle Shanahan’s offense in San Francisco.

Obviously, Nathaniel Hackett has been working the last three years with a former Shanahan disciple in Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur, and that experience has ultimately helped Hackett adopt that brand of offense as his own, or at least a version of it.

Garoppolo is capable of running this offense. He’s proven he can get playmakers involved. He’s come within inches of winning two of the last three NFC championship games. He’s highly respected by his teammates. He’s only 30.

There are a lot of factors in Garoppolo’s favor even if he’s not perceived in a very positive light compared to other QBs in the NFL.

I think if it’s for a 2-3 year or even year-to-year situation, Garoppolo would be a fine player for the Broncos to seriously consider in the 2022 offseason.
