Denver Broncos QB option No. 2: Carson Strong, rookie, Nevada

Enough holes have been poked in Carson Strong at this point that I don’t think the Denver Broncos would have to take him with the 9th overall pick in order to have him on the roster for the 2022 season.

With that being said, I think the wisest course of action if you love this guy is to pull the trigger sometime between picks 20-32 so that would mean either trading down to acquire him or trading back into the first round, which the Broncos have the flexibility to do.

Strong has a big arm and a lot of intriguing tools above the neck that stand out when you watch him play.

He does a lot of work calling out coverages before the snap and understanding what’s happening pre-snap is a huge advantage for a young QB coming into the NFL.

Pundits are concerned about the longevity of his right knee as well as his mobility in general, but Strong has pretty good poise in the pocket and is able to navigate quite well considering his athletic limitations.

He makes throws with anticipation, puts the ball in good spots, and delivers with timing and accuracy the majority of the time.

Although this year’s rookie class is not exactly revered, if the only issue with Strong is a medical check on that right knee, then perhaps the 9th overall pick won’t end up being too rich for him and he certainly showed NFL starter traits at Nevada.
