Broncos could gamble on QB Malik Willis

Malik Willis could be the ultimate boom or bust candidate in this entire draft class, but when a team takes a gamble on a player like this and it hits, it hits big. Think back to when Lamar Jackson was still on the board at the end of the first round in 2018 and the Baltimore Ravens chose to pull the trigger.

In our latest mock draft, the Broncos do in fact select Willis with this pick. His intelligence as a quarterback and the toughness he displays on the field are two of the biggest reasons why, but the intangibles in Willis’ game could prove to be a huge get for the team that selects him.

Willis can fling the ball around as he has crazy arm strength. But as he showed you on this play, he can move the ball with his legs as well.

Willis will likely be seen as a gamble no matter which team decides to use a draft selection on him, but he has the ability to do huge things in the league.

If it were the Broncos making that pick, you can believe that new head coach Nathaniel Hackett would be the guy telling Paton that is who he wanted as he would have the chance to mold him into the kind of quarterback he sees running his offense.

Because he played at Liberty, many fans may instantly scoff at this pick. But Willis originally played at Auburn in college before transferring, so he was recruited by an SEC school at one time.

The stock of Willis is on the rise and by the time the draft finally rolls around, he could be seen as a top 10 pick, and perhaps the first quarterback off the board, by pretty much everyone.
