Three Non-Quarterback Blockbuster trades for Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos Non-QB Blockbuster trades
Broncos receive Eric Kendricks, Vikings receive 2022 3rd round pick, 2022 6th round pick
Along with Anthony Barr, fellow Vikings’ linebacker Eric Kendricks has formed one of the most consistent linebacking duos in the NFL.
Both players are 29 years old and approaching the back nine of their careers. However, Kendricks enjoyed one of the better seasons of his career, setting a career-high in both sacks and total tackles.
Kendricks could be on the move with a new regime in Minnesota. The Vikings could elect to retain him, and perhaps work out some sort of extension, but I would not rule out George Paton calling his old team and asking about one of his former players.
Outside of Baron Browning, the Broncos have a bit of uncertainty regarding their linebacking room in 2022.
Will they retain Josey Jewell, Alexander Johnson, or Kenny Young? Kendricks might be better than all 3 players, and with the obvious connection with George Paton, and his brief history in dealing with the Vikings as the Broncos’ general manager, a trade makes sense.
I personally do not think the Denver Broncos need to prioritize taking a linebacker high in the NFL draft. There are quality free agent options and potential trade targets as well.
