2. Jimmy Garoppolo did very well for the 49ers

Was Jimmy Garoppolo an NFL MVP with the San Francisco 49ers?

No.

With that being said, he was part of a lot of wins and has an especially good record of 12-5 in the month of December.

I know, I know — “QB wins” is not a viable stat.

Still, when you look at the fact that Garoppolo has been part of 33 wins and only 14 losses in regular season play as a starting QB, it’s impossible to ignore that even if he’s had great circumstances, he’s been part of far more wins than losses.

In the playoffs, Garoppolo has five wins and two losses. Those two losses were in the Super Bowl against the Chiefs and the NFC Championship against the Rams a couple of weeks ago. That, by the way, was his only loss to the Rams as the 49ers’ starter. He has otherwise been undefeated against LA, and has a 10-7 overall record against the rest of the NFC West.

Imagine that? A player many would consider to be the 4th-best QB in his own division over the last five years has reached the NFC Championship in two out of the last three.

He has a career completion percentage of 67.7 and a touchdown percentage of 5.0. Compare that TD percentage to Teddy Bridgwater, whose career TD percentage is 3.6.

Garoppolo has had regular season and postseason success as a starting quarterback with the 49ers and the sample size is big enough at this point to buy at least a little bit.
