5 reasons the Denver Broncos make sense for Jimmy Garoppolo
Denver Broncos may not have better options realistically available
Let’s say for the moment that Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson both decide to return to their current teams for the 2022 season and possibly beyond.
Even if that feels unlikely based on what has been reported to this point, it’s not impossible.
What is possible is that Jimmy Garoppolo winds up being the best option realistically available to the Denver Broncos and other QB-needy teams.
If Rodgers and Wilson are off the market, who would then become the most attractive option out there?
Kirk Cousins doesn’t appear to be available with the Vikings after the hiring of Kevin O’Connell, who once coached Cousins in Washington.
Baker Mayfield being available feels like a major longshot and the Browns would likely require a reasonable alternative to replace him.
Matt Ryan is not a realistic trade target with his contract.
There are some options in free agency you could make a legitimate case for against Jimmy Garoppolo, but the most compelling might be limited to Jameis Winston.
The 2022 NFL Draft class is not exactly a highly renowned group.
Even if the Broncos do like someone in the 2022 NFL Draft, they could pursue Garoppolo as a bridge option to that QB in 2023.
Bringing in Garoppolo, even at the cost of a draft pick, is a preferable option to bringing back Teddy Bridgewater. It might honestly be the best and most realistic option on the table for the Broncos in the 2022 offseason depending on what Aaron Rodgers decides to do.
