Denver Broncos trade candidate: Malik Reed, EDGE
The Denver Broncos may not be jumping at the first opportunity to trade away their young EDGE rushers after already trading Von Miller to the Los Angeles Rams, but with the entire defensive coaching staff (for the most part) being overhauled, some players may not be ideal fits for the new scheme, whatever that ends up being.
Malik Reed has been an unbelievably good undrafted free agent find out of Nevada, but his contract is up and he’s slated to become a restricted free agent in the 2022 offseason.
Although the Denver Broncos will almost undoubtedly value Reed at a 2nd-round tender level, it’s possible that if the right offer crosses George Paton’s desk that he would take it.
Reed may be the one player on this list whose trade candidacy is not necessarily dependent on whether or not a quarterback is coming back in return.
I think given his history with the coaches the Broncos have had the last three years and how beloved he is by Vic Fangio and his former staff, we could see Reed get traded to a team where one of those coaches lands.
So far, we only know for sure where Ed Donatell will be in 2022 (Seattle) but other options will unquestionably arise.
Again, given his age and price, some team will have to make the Broncos a good offer for Reed, who will otherwise be penciled in as the projected 2022 starter opposite Bradley Chubb off the edge.
